The Story

$0 to $1 Billion.

From a basement beanbag to a Nasdaq-listed billion-dollar company — and everything that happened in between.

Who Is Shawn Nelson

Founder. CEO.
Inventor. Innovator.

Shawn D. Nelson is the Founder and CEO of Lovesac — the furniture company he built from literally nothing into a publicly traded brand on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange (LOVE) with hundreds of showrooms across North America and over $1 billion in lifetime revenue.

He started in 1995, at 18 years old, sewing an 8-foot foam sac in his parents' Utah basement. His friends loved it. He realized he had something no one else was selling. That was the beginning.

The road to where he is today was anything but straight. Lovesac survived near-bankruptcy, rapid expansion, near-failure, a pivot, and a complete reinvention — all before the IPO in 2018. In 2004, Shawn won $1 million from Sir Richard Branson on the national TV competition The Rebel Billionaire: Branson's Quest for the Best, beating out runner-up Sara Blakely, who went on to found Spanx.

He's also the Amazon #1 bestselling author of Let Me Save You 25 Years, published by Forbes Books — the full, unfiltered story of Lovesac and the 25 lessons he paid dearly to learn.

Today, Shawn hosts Let Me Save You 25 Years — a weekly podcast where he sits down with elite founders, athletes, and high performers to extract the one lesson it took them a lifetime to earn. With 107+ episodes and a 4.8-star rating on Apple Podcasts, it's become one of the most credible shows in entrepreneurship.
